SOME SORTA GRYPHON WHOA by R-WOLFE SOME SORTA GRYPHON WHOA by R-WOLFE
uHHH a quick design for my bro *Ninguid.

She was trading some old OCs and I wanted to adopt one of them so I whipped this up for her. She wanted a tropical themed gryphon so I made a macaw gryph. I guess the feline part is a jaguar hmm.

I had fun with thissss ahhh.

Design belongs to Ninquid nowww~

Question: Do you usually start with a colored background then draw on? Or start with a concept, color it in then add a colored background that contrasts with the character's main colors?
Or does it go either way for you?

Again, envy of your color combinations and your animal/creature mashups. You really pull them off as to look believable and not just stitched up together.

For the designs I sell and trade, I always start with a pre-chosen color palette. The lightest color in the palette serves as the background color, the darkest color in the palette is used for lineart. The other colors in the palette make up the rest of the colors. This only applies for designs.

Just. Don't say you envy them. Focus on your own work and get it to a point where you are proud of yourself and know what you're doing.

pre-chosen?
Oh, I will have to try that myself! :o I tend to learn a bit from what you do, hope that is alright.
My colors tend to be all over the place. I vomit too much, I'm trying my best to limit my color choices when starting out. Like what you do.

Ah ah o A o'' I'll try not to. It's hard, I'm reminded I shouldn't see everyone as competition but likely friendly mentors who I could learn form and possibly network with. It's difficult.

Nngh, how does one know what they're doing? art is so crazy. Oh, I would like to show you some artwork- probably send you a note so it's not spammy. One of my OC's I've managed to finally finalize, your multi-raven headed lady's design helped with that if you're interested in taking a look.

Sorry, long comment is long.

I only use pre-chosen palettes for the designs I sell and trade. In other art I gravitate to blues and greys out of simple preference and since they're easiest for me to see. It's just sorta about picking what you like and getting good at it n' stuff.

Oh, I see! I didn't really think about preference colors. Do you try other colors too out of curiosity or stick to blues out of easier use?

I experiment with other colors so I can get better. I do not touch red and green palettes because I cannot see them.

Oh wow, that's bamf. D: I wouldn't have known that.
Did you take art classes? If you had, was it a problem if you needed to use red or green?
Or did that never come up?
*giddy excitedness* * A *
I don't think I've heard of any color blind artist. Well, color blind to red and green that is. NNGGH SO MUCH RESPECT.

I've only started getting education in art this year as I started college. Majoring animation. We're starting basic color theory now but the instructor knows of my deficiency so we'll be working on ways to get around that. One of the interior design instructor's husband is more severely colorblind and is a fashion designer so he often has to rely on him to help color check the fabrics and swatches he uses. So I myself hope I can find someone reliable to do some color checks for me just in case I need it ever.

Not this particular design. It says in the description that I made it for *Ninguid.
